Intended for the EBSQ Pet Portrait Swap 2007, then the 2007 EBSQ Late Show. This work in progress is the start of a pet portrait of fellow EBSQ artist Jenny Doss's lovely dog Sasha. Jenny gave me tons of reference photos of her, and I chose a closeup sleeping pose. I originally wanted to depict her with one of her favorite toys, but, she seemed to have a different toy in each picture, so, I figured that she thought of each toy as her favorite, and wanted to paint her surrounded by them....her squeaky clown, her stuffed rat and her stuffed possum. I was finally happy with this beginning sketch, completed even before the show opened in August, then I got busy with outdoor art shows and then the holidays came about, and it remains unfinished. But, hopefully not for long! It's a new year, after all!
