Art: Nosce Te Ipsum by Artist Tina Marie Quatroni

Nosce Te Ipsum is Latin for "Know thyself". It took me awhile to think on what I wanted to enter for this show. I chose this piece for the Vice show because of it's background in the creation.

This image is a manipulation of an old no longer copyrighted photograph of a woman sitting in a chair looking into a mirror, dressed in only heels, admiring herself. She had a sinister smile, a phoney fakeness about her in her eyes. She brought to me feelings of vanity and feelings of shame.

I altered this image to bring forth my feelings, to transform her mirrored impression of herself, to show what being vain can do to you as a person. It melts you away from the inside.

Again this is a pre 40's photograph manipulated using Corel X2 and Painter.
