This is the second in a series of paintings of vintage toys and their adventures. I have always loved older toys, the artistry that went into their creation, their verisimilitude and what they meant to generations of children. Plus I love the thought that, like some cartoons from my childhood portrayed, they might "come alive" after children are asleep and have a life of their own.
I started collecting vintage toys like these a few years ago and put them in various situations, light them, paint them, adding more lifelike eyes, and hopefully capturing the secret life they lead. Not only are they fun and satisfying to paint, they are wonderful to have around and children who visit my studio are always enthralled....
