Personally in the last week or two prior to creating this piece I had my own fears concerning my health as a woman. I lost a grandmother to ovarian cancer, and another to heart failure. The morning I painted this I was thinking about everything that I am thankful for. I have so much more than many, and for what it's worth I have quite a bit of my health.
My heart went out to not just breast cancer victims and survivors, but to children as well who suffer fatal illnesses and cancers. I'm inspired by their strength and understanding of what life truly means. There is something unmeasurable and so gorgeous about those who have been through such suffering and pain. They come out of it or leave this world with a perspective that takes most decades. This piece is a dedication and reminder that we have so much! And I see the world focusing on what it doesn't have. Those are important, yes, but it lifts your heart when you start listing what you do have.
While sketching I tried to stick with current child fashions while adding a slight touch of fantasy. I used mainly rose, red, violet, and browns with my colors keeping it soft yet bold. Plus gotta have the cozy socks and scarf...it's autumn after all. She is part of a group I call "Fairy Blessings", where each "fairy" carries a banner that inspires and always has a friendly bird to help guide her.
