This design is inspired by a photo I took when I was back in England, on the Isle of Wight where I was born and grew up. The cliff path is looking towards the famous St. Catherine’s Lighthouse, and this rocky and treacherous coastline on the Isle of Wight was once infamous for pirates and smugglers. Here it is seen in a gentler mood.
The design is mostly created using commercial batik fabrics and is embellished with free motion embroidery using rayon and variegated cotton threads.
