Steampunk Asymmetrical Key Earrings
March 2009
I love the Victorian aesthetic of Steampunk jewelry. I also love the idea of recycling and putting old bits to good use. The mechanical or industrial look is another wonderful aspect of Steampunk style.
I'm a "hunter gatherer" when it comes to materials. I have boxes of fantastic stuff I've found at flea markets, yard sales and antique malls over the years.
Each earring has an aged, rusted key. I added a Fleur-de-Lis charm with a green patina, a red bead and an old brass button to one earring. The other earring has a brass globe charm, a turquoise bead and a silver tone flower charm. The charms are assembled with Copper jumprings and Copper chain.
One earring is 2 1/4" long and the other is 2 3/4" long. The earwires are copper tone Niobium.
