Created specifically for the 'steampunk' exhibit.
A night of contemplation and dreams, I awoke with a vision of these women traveling in style and taking in the sights. And so, the journey began!
Most of the components were a 'given' for me; the rest of the story had to develop and did, out of my own reading interests and my interest in the sky both day and night.
Note: The book she is holding is my copy of "A Study of the Sky", published in 1894...the title altered a bit for your visual experience.
Comment:
The joy of this type of collage work is not only in the overall theme/message and fantasy, but in the cutting precision and 'fitting' together of pieces...i.e. book tucked into her arm, pillows tucked behind, a chunk of a chunk of our Moon (day? night?), grasping the cherub guided binocular scope...and of course, the vehicle comprised of steam engine wheels, dirrigible body embellished and riding the rails...to?
