Prospectus

Steampunk. Not the easiest genre to distill into a couple of sentences. The term denotes works inspired by an age when steam power was in use, most frequently the Victorian era. It is the types of machines and technologies created by H. G. Wells and Jules Verne are often found in Steampunk. It is the inventions and ideas of the time idealized and made workable. Often examples of Steampunk take modern technologies and re-imagine them as if they were of that period. Steampunk is science fiction and fantasy and what ifs.

“Steampunk” is open to all media. The artist’s statement is required for your work to be eligible. This statement should include information on what your entry is meant to be and specific influences, if any. If your entry is functional, please explain what it does and how it does it. Also, please include information on the materials and process you used to create your entry. This information increases understanding of your work and significantly enhances the experience for the viewer. If texture or other small elements are pivotal to the piece, detail shots are encouraged. Eligible entries need to meet all points of the prospectus. If you have any questions regarding the prospectus and its requirements, please send them to edu@ebsqart.com.
