This is my favorite mermaid piece to date. I wanted to do something a bit out of the ordinary by painting a darker theme in deeper, cool tones. Under the light of the full moon, a mermaid has sent her qiant squid, based on the stories of the Kraken, out to destroy the cargo carrier and bring her the precious jewels in its hold. This particular giant squid feeds on sealife and sailors and lives in the depts of the ocean. However, when the siren sings her song, he joins her in the harbor and they both await the ship that soon appears on the horizon. Impending doom for the sailors, a meal for the sea monster, and more pearls for the mermaid. Some women always get what they want!
