From Shakespeare's Macbeth , the three witches making a recipe for disaster and sing the praises of their muse Hecate. The cauldron boils and bubbles as they add ingredient after ingredient whose contents would leave no one with the impression that the recipe would be used for anything but causing trouble.
This piece was created from layers of paper for the background, and thin washes of acrylic applied to the surface, as well as ink in the figures. The smoke has a listing of all the ingredients used for the witches' brew, and the pot has the song that Hecate invites the witches to sing after the brew is made (Thomas Middleton's "Black Spirits").
