Art: Sur le Soir by Artist Jes Ewers
Painted at the request of a family member. Afterall, who can say no to their mom? But in painting several interpetations of his works, Louis Aston Knight became a major influence for me. His masterful work with light and water keep him ranked high as one of my most admired artists. But I have to admit, I am most astounded by, and impressed with, what seems to be incredibley unrestrained and effortless brush work. I am continually befuddle by his brush strokes. It seems as though, when painting, he could do no wrong. The more liberal and almost frantic his brush strokes, the more appealing the image. And yet, there is always the undertone of intense planning. Intensity and playfulness, aires of which would seem at odds, but never here, never in his work. And I am astonished.
