Chagall used simple, often childlike themes as a means of tapping a spiritual reality underneath the mundane reality of everyday life. I used Chagall's "The Juggler" to provide the point of departure for my painting. I use bold colors and naively presented imagery to express a spirituality as I explore time and femininity. As the woman dreams, her life surrounds her. Her sense of time is lyrical. The images are painted in a childlike, even cryptic and naive puzzlelike manner. The tree symbolizes life and the cycle of life is encompassed.
