I find it hard to describe a rodent as ugly or disgusting. I may be "off" because of that, but I find all things alive worth purpose. Mice, although what makes them disgusting are the viruses and germs they carry, tend to lean more on the curious and adorable side. I'll stare at my cat and wonder why we find their big eyes and weird noses adorable, yet scream and run at the sight of a mouse. It's very odd to me.
When I am to describe a rodent in art I want to portray their mischief and every day life. Here, a small white mouse, either a pet or pest, is caught in the act of eating some almonds (a personal favorite). The smell of coffee possibly lured this wee creature to the table just to find a bonus. A snack!
As for technique I allowed myself to give a lot of freedom to the watercolor in the surroundings. Played off some complimentary colors and left the objects to a minimum so that the mouse is the focus.
