For this Ripped Off show, summer 2008, I used Tina Ferguson's sewn-art "Wild Flamingo" as inspiration. It took off from there--I kept some of the details--adding painted stitches and buttons was fun, but I couldn't keep to the colour scheme of the original, despite my best intentions! This painting is 12" x 12"; we'll be exchanging the paintings. I used crackle varnish on the heart, and gold details in some of the stitching and background--I also used gold leaf in the background texture.
