Art: Pueblos by Artist Julie Hollis
This is my ripped-off version of Heike Strobel's "Pueblos". As Heike had chosen to rip-off one of my digital paintings and paint it, I decided to reverse the process! The process wasn't easy; initially I tried to replicate Heike's paint strokes, but couldn't get the effect quite right. In the end I decided to give each paint area a defined edge but make each area translucent so that the colours beneath merged through. I worked hard on making the pueblos themselves stand out; they were, afterall, the point of the original painting. By giving them each a shadow and playing with each to give them a 3D feel I hope I have pushed them to the front. I used Adobe Photoshop Creative Studio, which I just love, to create my painting. The image is 1024 x 768 pixels with a resolution of 150 pixels per cm. This allows me to blow the image up to print on Super-A3 Epson Heavyweight Matte Paper (archival quality) without losing sharpness. This is my first time ripping-off and I've thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks to Heike for the inspiration!
