This piece was created for the EBSQ Rip Off show of 2004. It is based on Jackie Jones's Screamin. In my version the screaming parrot becomes the phoenix, coming out of the flames. His scream becomes the first cry of the newborn.

This piece was created using Photoshop Elements. First I used the Render Clouds filter with red and orange colors to create a fire cloud, then I used the Liquefy filter to sculpt the cloud into the shape of flames. Next, I created the sky in the background using the Render Clouds filter again with two other filters. I painted the parrot using various Photoshop brushes in various layers. I ended by creating a selection, adding all the layers containing the parrot and creating a glow around him by using Stroke Fill.
