Art: Sunset 2009 by Artist Melissa Tobia
When I was a kid I for some reason went through a stage in which I would paint on gift boxes with acrylic paint. When I was about 11 or 12 I created a sunset painting on a macy's gift box. My newest recreation of "Sunset Kid" was created with oil pastel on red pastel paper. I call it "Sunset 2009". I tried to really capture the reflection of the sunset on the water with the use of many different colors. I used very saturated vibrant colors. This piece was very fun to do and brought me back to a medium that I have not done in a while (oil pastels) and for the first time I tried blending them with turpenoid so I could use brushes.
