The limpid reflections in this still pool seemed to capture the peaceful mood of the day perfectly. I'd been painting on the spot all day long, and was hot but satisfied when I found this cool place. It was the last painting of the day, and my favorite.
I made no attempt to make a portrait of the reflections, just wanted to catch the reflective
quality of that still pool in the deep summer forest. A combination of quick verticals and horizontal strokes with my favorite flat sketching brush seemed to capture what I was after without overworking it...
