Art: Keeping The Balance by Artist Terrie K
Meet Kira! She is making her way across a swiftly flowing brook, balancing on the river rocks. But, more over this, she is a young fairy that is growing into adulthood...balancing between childhood innocence and womanhood...This is why I have chosen to name this piece "Keeping the Balance". She is made of a custom mixture of Prosculpt, Cernit, and Super Sculpey polymer clays creating VERY STRONG figure over a brass rod armature. She is One of a Kind, made without the use of any molds. If she were standing flat on her feet, she would be about 8 1/2" tall. She is anatomically correct and her little polymer clay "twig and leaf" top and bottoms are completely removable so that she may be displayed in as much or as little modesty as you like, showing off her beautifully blossoming body that has been so painstakingly handscuplted! Her body has been lightly blushed and her features have been handpainted with high quality acrylic paints accenting all her lovely musculature and features! She has Blonde Tibetian Lambswool hair pulled back to show off her tiny pointed ears and vivid green handmade glass eyes that match her LOVELY wings and are framed in tiny mohair eyelashes. Her lips and nails are glazed for added realism. Her GEORGEOUS WINGS are meticulously hand sculpted in liquid polymer clay and are decorated with pearlex powders in a design that was inspired by the Luna Moth. She stands on a decorated wooden base that portrays the babbleing brook she is crossing. The only parts of her that touch the base are the balls of her tiny feet with brass rods coming out of the bottom of them that insert into the river rocks, allowing her to defy gravity and appear to really balance on her tip toes! She is completely removable from her base.
