Here is one of my entries for the 2005 Pet Portrait Swap. Since animals (especially dogs!) are my specialty, I love, love, love participating in this show every year.
This is Tracey Greene's dog Mardi Gras. Isn't she a cutie? Of course, with a name like that, there was never any doubt what color palette I would use. The colors of Mardi Gras are green, purple and gold, and so is Mardi Gras the dog's portrait. The detailing on the blankets as well as the collar is metallic gold, while all the outlining is a bold purple. Done in my fun pop art style, with a little Klimt influence thrown in, the painting is signed and dated on the front and back.
I've included the reference photo Tracey sent me.
Can't wait to do this again next year!
