When I was a child there was a kid on our street who used to play basketball with himself. He would cheer and give commentary on his imaginary game, always scoring the winning point at the last minute. What a hopeful imagination he had! His game inspired this work depicting a basketball and worn out shoes after the game. His dream inspires us as the whimsical dreams of children often do. It gives hope and serves as a metaphore for optimism for grown ups who still dream. The drawing shows inanimate objects which emulate lives of their own, dreaming about the game.
