This piece was inspired by the EBSQ February show. This is one of a set of six which explores music and the senses. Each instrument is represented by both scents and poetry so the viewer gets an olfactory and verbal experiences along with the visual.
The following poem is written in the piece:
Can you smell the African Drum?
Stirring my morning senses...
Bringing life where there was none.
Lowering my defenses.
Can you smell the beat of the African Drum?
It's strangely so familiar...
Like morning java I succumb
As the beat, the smell delivers.
I smell the beat of the African Drum
And revive by the rhythm it makes
I'll enjoy the sensations until I am numb
As I drink of the smell it creates.
