In this painting I chose to use oil on canvas. When doing a painting of this kind I like to do several sketches with different color combinations before starting. I like to use contrasting color with thick paint for texture.

I chose to use this cat painting because I feel it depicts the unconditional love of a mother even if the child is not born to her. This painting is of my cat Chloe and her adopted daughter Carmen. We received Carmen through an adoption program in our area. Ever since we brought her home Chloe has treated Carmen like her own. This action spoke volumes to us because we are in the process of adopting our first child and we know we will love her just as unconditional as Chloe loves Carmen.
