very traditional - oil on canvas,

Process:

the canvas is hand stretched and primed with gesso in a very traditional fashion. I always use brushes or the ends of brushes.

information about the subject and why chosen:

This is a piece that simply screamed to be painted. The mother is clutching her newborn tightly guarding him with due vigilance. Inspired primary by my own fears and protectiveness of having a new child. How precious and delicate the newborn seemed and worth more than gold.
