Life, death, rebirth, transformation. A young woman is guided into the earth, to become something otherworldly. 

Metamorphosis is a change in form, a transformation. In my painting Renascentia, I wanted to explore the first spark of that change as a young woman is transformed into a forest guardian. What would that moment look like? Would it be frightening or serene? The title of the painting is even a hint of this event--it is the Latin word for rebirth.
