Anyone who knows me knows my fascination for pavement. It is not uncommon for me to take my camera out on walks and take photos of the gutter, cracks in the sidewalk, strewn about leaves, gravel in a driveway, or oil slicks on asphalt. When I shot this image I was out on a nature walk and found this lush carpet of moss and lichen. It was soft and fresh just after a rain. The pink spots are also some kind of growth or mold. I love the contrast between the green moss and the dark patches of earth sprinkled with light blue and gray pebbles. And the string of leaves in the center of that patch add a nice contrast to the abstract quality of the moss.
No color enhancing or filters were used in this image. It was taken using a Canon T-70 and 200 speed film.
