Art: Moonlight Meandering by Artist Elisa Hirt

This piece was started for the Bat Show. I temporarily abandoned it once the deadline for the show had passed, but did manage to finish it.

When I was a kid, we had many bats that would appear in our backyard once the sun began to set. We watched them flutter about the yard sometimes for hours. I tried to create this piece in a way that looked almost like a vintage card, since this depicted something from my childhood.

I used Prismacolor fine tipped markers to illustrate the bats and the moon. The bats and the moon are stippled, which is a technique that I am quite fond of. To create the sky, I sponge painted metallic acrylic paint to give it the appearance of the moonlight reflecting off the clouds.
