There's a link between my creativity and religious studies. I collect images of Gods, Goddesses, Saints and Angels, often using the images in my collages. I thought it would be fun to incorporate an East Indian Goddess with an array of whimsical insects.
This piece was created on 140 lb. Canson watercolor paper. I glued two pieces together for extra support. The Goddess is from an image of an old postcard I purchased in Boston many years ago. The insects are an array of stickers and fabric. I used acrylic paint for texture in some areas, adding beads, sequins and glitter as it dried. The collage is sealed with acid-cree varnish. The background is painted with watercolor.
