Hand-knit reed fiber embellished with gold leaf pop metal pieces surrounded by crochet lurex ribbons. Inside pocket. Magnetic closure.
For a significant Birthday my husband surprised me with a fantasy trip of mine: Paris. I felt that I should have an important handbag for the trip and decided to make this one for myself.
I had this special linen yarn left-over from my shop in the 80s which became the front flap and the strap. Then I had some reed yarn I had bought from Habu in NY a few years earlier that became the main part of the bag.
I decided to take some sheet metal and apply some gold and copper leaf onto it with nail polish...it worked! Those became the focal of the bag.
I worked on this bag for weeks prior to the trip and was almost finished. Took the bag with me to Paris but I never used it.
