It is the end of Summer then again
it is the last day of lifeguard class
don't look down, just dive right in
Oh my it is mighty high
mighty high indeed
looking down I saw awash of blue
above me nothing but
sky... in a deeper hue
Right next to me is a little birdie blue
perplexed as I am at what to do
Dive right in he chirps away
we all must die, but not today.
Funny the high dive looks lower from the ground...
This is a picture of a day in my life. Ready to get my lifeguard certificate, I had just to complete the high dive. I thought nothing of it as we only needed to jump, not dive how bad could it possibly be? I walked out to the end of the board and it looked so much higher than I had accessed. I can't tell you my complete thought process, 11 year olds are not supposed to think in cuss words. But this I will tell you I turned and walked back down the ladder making everyone behind me step down and aside. Once on the ground the instructor said " perhaps next year!"...Suffice it to say I learned that day, that no matter how well you swim you will be judged only on how far you fall and further more being a lifeguard well....sucks!
