The progression of the bloom of a sunflower and the amazing almost geometric paternsof the center.
Shot with one of the modified View Camera rigs that I build using an older enlarger lens and a Nikon D70 DSLR body
The purpose of the modded view camera is to retain the ability to use traditional view camera movements, where you can place the image on the film plane and correct distortions or create them all with the instant gratification of a modern digital camera body.
I first started modding these cameras when I was having trouble shooting some industrial products and archetecture with a DSLR, that would have been simpler when using a 4"x5" VC. Leading me to the conclusion that what I really needed was to attach one of my digital camera bodies to a View Camera, but there were some technical difficulties with focal lengths, so I had to remove the rear of the VC and fabricate my own mounts and modified bellows to make it work (see detail image).
Minimal post processing as lens correction was done in camera, just minimal contrast and saturation adjustments.
