This piece is titled "ROSIE". It is the first of my two entries for the FOTM Ebsq show. The rose is one of my favourite flowers and I wanted to create a rich, ornate and detailed piece, using watercolor. I worked the medium quite dry onto the paper to capture the rich and velvet texture of the rose petals. The fairy, Rosie who loves roses too, is treated in a lighter wash, she does not hold your eye but leads you back into the piece thru her finger which lightly touchs the petal as she glances downwards. The overall style is deco and art nouveau with a romantic gothic theme and the painting was designed to be mounted in an ornate gilt frame.
