Fire thorns are cultivated, evergreen shrubs with thorny branches, dark green leaves, white flowers and orange or red berries.

Birds like the plump, colorful berries and these plants are perfect for nesting.

I wanted to paint a cardinal enjoying a rest in his fire thorn shrub.
