Poppies always remind me of the Wizard of Oz. This miniature art quilt started with randomly pieced strips of fabric - I used tan/brown and pastel pinks/greens so that the flowers woud really pop (no pun intended!). The flower petals are made of felt and only stitched down at their bases so they are dimensional. Embellishments were added in the form of hand embroidery, sequins/beads and text printed on bits of muslin which is appliqued to the surface of the quilt.
