This was painted especially for the Orchid FTOM show. I have a coffee table book of orchid photos that was given to us some 10 years ago. One small gruesome orchid photo in the corner of a page always stood out by far. I had always wanted to paint it but it just never happened before now. Something about that orchid image was so carnal, that I felt that the best way to present it would be to contrast with another orchid that inspired almost completely opposing imagry, delicacy and beauty, even innocence.
