The tiger lily has been my favorite of all lilies. One of my fondest childhood memories is playing in the creek and discovering a bed of orange tiger lilies growing wild...we called them snake flowers. We dug some up to give to our mother who planted them in our yard. Now 40 years later, they still grow in mother's yard, the yards of 2 homes I've owned, my sister's yard....and all over Greensboro as we've shared with many friends. Fragile they seem, as each bloom lasts just for one day, but the tuberous roots multiply each year, giving and giving.
