The scent of spring will forever be lilacs. Other flowers may bloom sooner in spring but none of them is as profoundly fragrant as these beautiful flowers. Growing up I recall huge hedges of lilacs in every shade imaginable and every spring my mom would cut hundreds of stems to pack and ship off to friends who otherwise would be unable to enjoy this special treat. I know that once the lilacs bloom spring is truly here and no last flurry of snow will come to mar the weather.
