Temperance is learned in the experience of time. Butterflies, leaves, hearts and stars, all live for a season: whether one day, one summer, one human life or one eternity. All is relative: to the butterfly, one day may feel like eternity, while to a star, eternity could feel like one day. Life contains us all and, in due course, asks us to let go of everything it has given us, so that others may also live. The dance of life and death can be experienced as waves of colors, coming and going, alternating, brightest to dimmest to brightest again, throughout our cosmic adventure. As we live, and die, we learn the lesson of Temperance.
