I knew three years ago I wanted to do encaustic work. Being a hot glass artist I am fascinated by something solid, making it liquid and letting it become solid again. Hot glass....Hot Wax....they both do that. I had the opportunity to take a 3 day workshop in encaustic painting at Sitkacenter.org with a wonderful teacher, Patricia Seggebruch. I was hooked just as I knew I would be. Autumn Preserved celebrates the colors and textures of autumn. It was collaged with multiple layers of beeswax, clear and colored over torn paper towels on an 8x10 clayboard. Each layer of wax is bonded to the previous using a Wagner power heat gun.....What fun!!!
