The Southwestern American Indian Blanket
Daisy is a Member of the Aster Family (Asteraceae)
It's a hearty Desert flower that we have in our backyard
and that can be found in the Western Prairies. I am always
so impressed with their color that I snapped
a shot of this one, a few years ago.
I shot it with a Digital camera in available
light. At that time I was playing a lot with
computer enhancement programs for digital
photography and after several applications, effects,
and even the air brush enhancement, I came up with
this end result.
It has a companion piece with one just flower and
is especially pretty printed on water color paper.
I first had it printed in a commercial Ziclee process
and then later I tried it on a couple of consumer
home printers to see either way, it had amazing color.
I say that not as the artist as much as I say it about the
flower.
They are really pretty blossoms with vibrant colors. I was surprised to learn they are the State Wild Flower of Oklahoma and that they grow in such a large area clear into Kansas. Here in the Texas desert they are called, 'Indian Blankets', perhaps that's why the The Kiowa American Natives believed the flowers brought good luck and thus the name.
