I love the interaction between the different elements in a still life tablescape. Everything in this painting deals with a Pacific Northwest Autumn - wine making, dahlias in bloom and rain. This oil has thickly painted blossoms giving the surface texture and depth while the odd inclusion of the wooden handled umbrella keeps the viewer's eye from from falling off the edge of the painting. And a cup of tea is always necessary while painting! Thanks for looking!
