I was inspired by two things with this piece. The first was that most famous peice by John Atkin Grimshaw, called 'Spirit of the Night', which I am sure is the most iconic fairy piece ever painted, so its very much my contemporary take on that. And secondly, on a very human level, my own personal restless journeys at 4am which seem to suspend all logic and leave me on an abyss of clockwatching and insanity-the modern monsters of our daily lives.
