The Chicken is certainly a grand part of our American heritage and history. Generations of children fed, and cared for them, collected eggs and learned to pluck feathers. My family has great stories about the process of butchering, and preparing chickens for a meal. I also love the nostalgia that this time recalls. This piece was painted from an old family photo using sepia tones to keep the antique look. "Feeding the chicks" as recalled in this painting is an important part of our history and developement that should be remembered.
