My work is often inspired by the natural world and I love butterflies, especially the colourful European Peacock butterfly (Inachis io), which can often be seen visiting my herb garden. Painted in acrylics on a 5 x 7 inch canvas board, the unfortunate Peacock butterfly in this painting is caught in a large spiderweb, with little hope of escape. The inspiration for this piece is the light and dark side of nature, the beauty and the cruelty that keeps our planet in a delicate balance. This piece is sold unframed, but will fit a standard 5 x 7 inch frame of your choosing. A couple of coats of gloss varnish have been added which give a lovely sheen and will keep the finish looking fresh for many years to come. The colours cannot be fully appreciated on screen.
