My rooftoop kitties sit high above the Embarcadero overlooking the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. The bridge, most frequently called 'The Bay Bridge', was opened in 1936. It is 3.68 miles long, and holds the legal name of 'The James 'Sunny Jim' Rolph Bridge, who was the Mayor of San Francisco before becoming the gov. of California. My painting depicts the west side of the bridge from Yerba Buena Island to San Francisco. The east side spans the distance from Yerba Buena Island to Oakland. Just looking at the painting, I can smell the cool salty sea breeze as well as the food wafting up from Fisherman's Wharf, which isn't far away! Painted with acrylics on canvas, the work measures 8 x 10.
