This is a Bones Pinto Horse I did for a challenge for our WHOA group on eBay. The close-up photos show the details of the start of the painting (before the bones were added) and after the painting was finished. It is painted on a 12" x 12" mixed media stretched canvas using Rembrandt soft pastels and acrylic paints. The black and white pinto pony exists in nature and was painted using a reference photo. Showing his bones on the outside as he is running is a continuation of the bone painting series I developed in advanced painting at Wayne State College.
My middle daughter received "Pinto Bones" as a Christmas present from me last year. She was so excited that she exclaimed, "Thanks, Mom! I thought you were going to have to die before we got these paintings!" "Wow, thanks, Kristy," I jokingly replied, but I was secretly glad she really liked it. :)
