This lampwork glass bead necklace is my tribute to Autumn.  Fall is my favorite time of year for the vibrant colors and musky scents, and I was inspired to honor her in glass for this month's Autumn exhibit.  I first made the large glass focal cabochon bead with a sunrise view of Lake Superior in Fall, when we have some of the most dramatic of the year, due to the low humidity.  I made an additional smaller diamond shaped bead as an accent to the focal to add interest to the embroidered pendant I made out of out of them.  Bead embroidery and peyote stitch seed bead weaving techniques were used in making the pendant, which is backed with ultrasuede for a finished appearance.

I then set about the task of making the birch logs and colorful Autumn leave collection so I could make a necklace with which to hang the pendant.  While digging around for a chain I found this beautiful vintage lightweight gold colored chain that is in the style of Sarah Coventry, but there are no hallmarks.  I can switch the chain and original hook closure for sterling silver or gold filled chain and findings as well.   

The Fall colors are peaking here at the moment, and they will too soon be long gone, but they will live on until the end of time, in glass.
