
This was inspired by a giant medieval rock carving of a monk. I wanted to keep the primitive look of the features from the original stone, while making the piece very small for miniature use. I used a pin for an armature to keep the figure straight as I worked. Baking the acrylic color in allowed it to come through during the final sanding, looking distressed and old, as though the tiny statue had been gilded and the gilding had partially worn off, giving the piece an ancient look when used in a miniature setting.
