Art: Stallion Starshower by Artist Christopher Boswell
'Twas noontide of summer,
And mid-time of night;
And stars, in their orbits,
Shone pale, thro' the light
Of the brighter, cold moon,
'Mid planets her slaves,
Herself in the Heavens,
Her beam on the waves.
I gazed awhile
On her cold smile;
Too cold- too cold for me-
There pass'd, as a shroud,
A fleecy cloud,
And I turned away to thee,
Proud Evening Star,
In thy glory afar,
And dearer thy beam shall be;
For joy to my heart
Is the proud part
Thou bearest in Heaven at night,
And more I admire
Thy distant fire,
Than that colder, lowly light.

Evening Star by Edgar Allen Poe

The works of Poe have always inspired me. I think this was helped by my musical interest and Alan Parsons Project. It is amazing the way we can be moved to create by other artists in a different medium. I find that very rewarding, to have the idea then create the work.

This shot was the result of a three hour exposure and some light painting. I used a flashlight on the horse and ground while the exposure was being made. The location is a ridge near the Columbia River, near Vantage, Washington. A local Artist has put a number of ponies made from flat iron on the hill.!
