Art: Chums by Artist MARY ANNE Z. O'SULLIVAN
Sometime in June when the cottonwood fluff begins to blow down from the old trees along the creek it looks like a sunny snowstorm. Two BFF's have curled up together for a snooze while the cotton softly gathers around them like snowflakes. (the snow is made with salt crystals in a 'damp' wash...timing)

The subject is about the precious-ness of true friendship, absolute trust, and how dissimilar individuals can sometimes make the most loyal friends. It reminds me of this familiar poem by Dinah Craik:

Oh, the comfort --
The inexpressible comfort of feeling
safe with a person,
Having neither to weigh thoughts,
Nor measure words -- but pouring them
All right out -- just as they are --
Chaff and grain together --
Certain that a faithful hand will
Take and sift them --
Keep what is worth keeping --
and with the breath of kindness
Blow the rest away.

True friendship is such a rare and "Precious" gift.
